Cycle through the life of Vincent van Gogh
September 1, 2026

Summer is coming to an end, but at Bike Labyrinth the adventure continues! In September we are taking you on a very special route: Van Gogh, the French Years. This route takes you through the life of Vincent van Gogh in France, past well-known places where the painter spent much of his time, and through landscapes he immortalized on canvas himself. What makes the route extra special is the audio guide, which accompanies you along the way with stories about his life and the places you cycle through.

Please note: this route is only available from software version 5.10.0 onward, and the audio guide is only available in Dutch, English, German, and French.

For the best impression, watch the video above, but below we highlight two chapters from the route.

Vincent in Paris

The route begins with this chapter, telling the story of Vincent van Gogh's time in Paris. You cycle past, for example, the house where he lived for a while with his brother. You also see the famous paint shop where many artists of that era did their shopping. During this chapter, paintings that Van Gogh created during this period are also shown.

Vincent in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

From May 1889 to May 1890, Vincent van Gogh voluntarily stayed at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, following a difficult period in Arles. Despite periods of illness, this was one of his most productive years: he painted, among other works, the world-famous Starry Night and Irises. Many of his works were created from his room or the asylum's garden. During this chapter, you cycle past the asylum and through these gardens.
