Discover Wyoming like a real cowboy
May 4, 2026

Yellowstone National Park may already be on your bucket list, and for good reason. Nowhere else on earth do you see so much geothermal activity in such a small area. Bubbling mud pools, steaming terraces of white limestone and geysers that regularly shoot water high into the air. But the surrounding nature is just as spectacular: the rugged mountain scenery of Wyoming makes it hard to look away. And that last route isn't just any bike ride - it was filmed from the back of a horse! Every single route in this collection is unique and definitely deserves a spot on your bucket list.

For the best impression, watch the video above. But we also highlight two routes for you.

Bighorn National Forest - on horseback

For this route, you step off the bike for a moment, because you're going on horseback. Bighorn National Forest in Wyoming offers nearly 200,000 hectares of wilderness and more than 1,200 kilometres of trails, all experienced from the saddle. For centuries, the forest was the hunting ground of various Native American tribes, including the Crow, Cheyenne and Sioux, and that rich history can still be felt in the landscape. Along the way you pass expansive mountain meadows, deep canyons and crystal-clear lakes. A route that makes you feel like you've truly escaped, somewhere far from home, in one of the most beautiful and least visited corners of the American Rockies.

Yellowstone - Mammoth Hot Springs

Instead of spouting geysers or bubbling mud pools, you'll find an almost otherworldly landscape of white travertine terraces here. Mammoth Hot Springs is unlike the rest of Yellowstone, and that's what makes it so special. Rainwater seeps into the ground, is warmed by magma deep beneath the earth and then rises back to the surface, dissolving limestone along the way and depositing it as white layers that build up the terraces. What makes it so fascinating is that this process never stops: some springs dry up while others suddenly come to life elsewhere, so the landscape is always changing slightly. Moving virtually through this remarkable piece of nature is an experience in itself.
